Another pregnancy perk.....

The leg cramp!!!!

Last night I had some of the most horrific leg cramps on the face of the earth, not once, not twice but three times! They were so bad they literally took my breath away.

At about 3:30am I shoot straight up in bed and start flailing around, Jon sit up, panicked.

Jon -"What's the matter!!!!????"
Me- "Cccccrrrraaammmppp!"
Jon- "Oh my God you are in labor?"
Me- "No...ahh ahhh, leg cramp!"
Jon- "oh"

Today it feel like someone ripped my calve muscles off my leg and then nailed them back on. Ouchy! I drink tons of water, eat my bananas and walk every hour on the hour... so why the hell am I getting leg cramps??!!

To make myself feel better I threw on some sassy tights and my boots. Might as well look good... right?

Filter

For those of you who know my husband... you know that he is quite the character. Sometimes his filter just doesn't work. Like when he decided my new nickname was "Muffin Top" or "Big Girl". I think most of you would agree no woman would ever think these nicknames are appropriate or cute.

Yesterday we had an interesting telephone conversation. It went a little something like this.

Jon- "Hey muffins! I saw your new picture on Facebook."
Me- "Yeah when did my ass get so big?"
Jon-"Oh, I noticed that a while ago."
....Silence
Me (laughing)- "Why would you say that?"
In the back ground, my coworker Nichole- "Oh no... what did he say now?"
Jon- "Do you want me to lie to you?"
Me- "About that.... "YES!!!!"
Jon- "So if you are dressed like a pompous asshole or have gained some weight I shouldn't tell you?"
Me (still laughing)- "NO!!!! Go ask the guys you work with if they would ever say that to their wives."
Jon- "Well do you want me to be the guys I work with or me?"
Me (still laughing)- "The guys you work with when it comes to this!"
Jon- "Ok."
Me (still laughing)
Jon- "Glad I can make you laugh. You are not going to tell your coworkers what I said are you?"
Me (still laughing)- "Yes, I am."
Jon- "Oh Ok... love you."

I have not laughed that hard in a long time. I am sure he is not going to be happy with me posting this on my blog, because he thinks people will think he is an asshole. But it was too funny not to share, besides his lack of a filter is one of the many things I love about him!

30 Weeks

Oh my aching back... The Baby Bump has officially turned into a Baby Belly with childbearing hips!
Check it out.. I am not lying!

The waddle from 2 weeks ago has morphed into this strange version of the Don Bawden shuffle. For those of you who don't know what the Don Bawden shuffle is... let me try and paint a picture.

Imagine a penguin, with arthritis and artificial hips. Now imagine when this penguin stands up, he lets out a great moan and then takes 5 to 10 small steps in a jerky like fashion, before he gains momentum. Slowly as he gains his momentum, his gait become smoother and more relaxed. That is the Don Bawden shuffle. That is the Katie Hunter pregnancy waddle.

Now I shouldn't make fun of my poor old dad... but it is what I do best. I always thought I would turn into a wilder version of my mother... but if pregnancy has taught me anything, it is that I am turning into my father, well at least his walk.

His smile!

Look at this smile...

There are a hundred things I love about this guy, but this smile has to be in the top 3! It just melts my heart... If I am angry, it sooths me. If I am grumpy, it makes me smile. If I am gloomy, it lifts my spirits. All he has to do is smile at me and the world seems right.

I have spent many hours day dreaming about what she will look like... Will she have my nose? Will she have his eye? Will she be petite like me or a giant like him?

All I know for sure is I hope she has her Daddy's smile. There is nothing better in this world then Jonny's cheshire cat grin!

28 weeks later....

Ok... Who got the zombie reference?

I have reached the 28 week mark and Baby is getting BIG!!!! As I was sitting on the couch yesterday admiring my growing bump and reflecting on the past 28 weeks, I realized that slowly I am unable to do something, but that I am also experiencing something for the first time!

Things I cannot do at 28 Weeks:
1- Sleep through the night without getting up at least twice to pee.
2- Put my pants on one leg at a time. I now have to sit down to accomplish this task.
3- Bend over and tie my shoes.

Things I can do at 28 Weeks:
1- Cry at sappy commericals or Lifetime made for TV movies.
2- Waddle.... I officially have the pregnant lady waddle down and I make it look sexy!
3- Still see my toes when I look straight down.

I am sure over the next 12 weeks the list of thing I cannot do will grow immensely and you will all have to listen to me rant about the changes to my body, the lack of sleep, my worries and fears and whatever other fun things are in store.

So,  sit back and enjoy!

A day late....

Thanksgiving. This year I have so much to be thankful for, it's hard to know where to start.

1- Jonny. He is the best husband in the world. He makes me laugh, he is a hard worker and he gives the BEST hugs. Plus he puts up with my neurotic tendencies. I love him!

2- My parents. I aspire to be just like them. I didn't make it easy on them when I was growing up, but they love me anyway. They are two of the greatest people in the world.

3- The Baby. She has opened my eyes to an entirely new life. I never knew I could love someone so much.

4- Financial Security. Both Jon and I have been gainfully employed in this down market, and sometimes money has been tight and Jon's work has been slow, but we have always had money for what we need and desire.

5- Apples... why? Because they are just so damn good!

The list could go on and on, but as I am laying here in bed, watching my adorable husband sleep... I think I will just snuggle up to him and enjoy this moment. Because truly this is what life is about, all the small things that make you smile.

Who looks better?

Ok... so Beyonce is due about the same time as me? And all I am saying is my bump is small and I look better.

Sure.. her boobs are bigger, her hair and makeup are flawless, she has more money then I will ever have, and she is going to have a planned C-Section with tummy tuck and boob job. BUT MY BUMP IS SMALLER!!! And that makes me feel good!

Birthing Classes

No one told me this is the way she was going to get out...... Just kidding!

Last night and today Jon and I attended Birthing Classes. I know I am only 26 weeks and it was a little early, but I figured with the holidays and then the start of snowmobiling season we better get them in now. Plus Jonny is a little squeamish when is comes to blood, needles and medical procedures, this was a little test to see if he could survive child birth.
(And by the way he passed.)

This little poster greeted us as we started class. It just made me laugh. Poor little baby is all doped up on mommy's bad decisions.
Friday nights class was excellent!  We learned all the anatomy of pregnancy and the Baby... it is truly amazing what the female body is capable of.

Saturday morning started with the empathy belly. Doesn't Jon make a cute pregnant lady?

He was a good sport! He decided to do jumping jacks and quickly learned that Empathy Bump was pressing right on his bladder.

And of course he always has a 'lil Captain in him.

A few thing I learned from birthing class:

1-Natural Child birth... am I crazy? Maybe a little, but I am seriously considering it.
2- I have a very supporting and loving partner.
3- Deep meditative breathing is better then a nap.
4- Right before the baby's head crowns it is the most frightening sight in the world!!!!! Don't look!!!

The classes were excellent and it made her up coming entrance into the world that much more real and exciting. We are beyond excited to meet her!
P.S. Isn't he the cutest giant ever!!!

Does this pregnancy make my butt look fat?

Week 26

Monday as I was working out at the gym and staring at myself in the mirror, I realized that this bump is unmistakably a BABY BUMP.. and I just don’t look like I have packed on a few pounds.

But then that got me thinking...

Does my face look pregnant? No
Do my arms look pregnant? No... still slim and muscular
Do my boobs look pregnant? Yes... oh wait that is a good thing. No more sad A cup, hello C cup!
Does my butt look pregnant? Nope.. round, cute and high
Do my hips look pregnant? YIKES!!! My hips are defiantly pregnant!!!!

I decided it was time to stop taking stock and just enjoy this experience.

I know I sound a little vain... but really what did you expect?

Baby Uggs

Today I went to lunch with two of my favorite people, Kimberly and Julia! We use to work at CVTY together and had lots of fun.

Check out the cuteness that Julia picked up for the Baby!

Baby Uggs!!!
with pink bows!

These are too sweet and will keep Baby's toes nice and warm. Thanks Jules!
I have been squealing and kvetching for the last hour and a half... maybe it's time for me to get back work!

Blogs are like diets...

you don't have to wait until Monday to start.

I have been meaning to start blogging since I found out I was pregnant... but I kept putting it off thinking "Oh I will start it next week." Next week is finally here!

I am 25 weeks, and so far there is nothing that I can say I really like about pregnancy, the sickness, the weight gain, the lack of wearing my beloved stilettos, random people who try and touch your baby bump, my ribs being used as her own personal jungle gym, and the hormones.

The hormones are what lead to this blogs name in fact, last weekend I had a complete mommy melt down while we we registering. As I stood there looking at this wall of baby bottles, I lost it.... I don't think I have cried that hard in years. Why was I crying, well I was unsure what bottles to get her, will she like them, will she like the bedding I picked out, did I pick the right car seat????? Tears and tears. I am a perfectionist with a sprinkle of OCD.

Okay I guess I shouldn't say there is nothing I like about pregnancy. She is the most amazing thing I have ever done with my life.
